Question
I was wondering if you could just explain a verse. In Hebrews chapter 10,
verse 26, it says, “For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge
of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins.” Could you briefly
explain that?
Answer
Yes, what it’s talking about is a non-Christian, a person who is intellectually
convinced that the Gospel is true. It’s the same as chapter 6, the same as
chapter 4, where you have a person who is intellectually convinced in their
mind. They’ve seen all the truth; they know that it’s true. And if they have the
knowledge of the truth, and willfully trample underfoot the Son of God—that’s
what it says in that verse—and count the blood of the covenant an unholy thing,
they're doomed. In other words, it’s talking about one who rejects against full
knowledge; it’s not talking about a Christian. That’s it.
