Question

In Hebrews 1:5, it says, “For which of the angels did He ever say, 'Thou art my Son.'" What I want to ask you is in Job 38:7, who are the sons of God?

Answer

Well, what he is saying is in Hebrews 1:5, it says, “Which of the angels has He ever said, “Thou art my son. This day have I begotten Thee.” And, that is a specific designation to Christ. What it is saying in Hebrews 1:5, is, what angel was ever called the very special son of God. The begotten son of God. In the context of Hebrews, what angel was ever given the role of the Messiah, the Son, the Lord, the Prince, whatever? In a genuine sense, in the morning star sang together and the sons of God for joy and all of that in the Old Testament is a term for angels. Keep this in mind. The same question needs to be raised in reference to men. Are all men the sons of God? Yes! By virtue of what? Creation. No, by virtue of redemption. So, you see the same kind of parody in that issue, too.
