DECALOGUE EXO 20:1 And God spoke all these words: EXO 20:2 "I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. EXO 20:3 "You shall have no other gods before me. EXO 20:4 "You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. EXO 20:5 You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, EXO 20:6 but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments. EXO 20:7 "You shall not misuse the name of the LORD your God, for the LORD will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name. EXO 20:8 "Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. EXO 20:9 Six days you shall labor and do all your work, EXO 20:10 but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your manservant or maidservant, nor your animals, nor the alien within your gates. EXO 20:11 For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy. EXO 20:12 "Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the LORD your God is giving you. EXO 20:13 "You shall not murder. EXO 20:14 "You shall not commit adultery. EXO 20:15 "You shall not steal. EXO 20:16 "You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor. EXO 20:17 "You shall not covet your neighbor's house. You shall not covet your neighbor's wife, or his manservant or maidservant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor." EXO 24:12 The LORD said to Moses, "Come up to me on the mountain and stay here, and I will give you the tablets of stone, with the law and commands I have written for their instruction." EXO 31:18 When the LORD finished speaking to Moses on Mount Sinai, he gave him the two tablets of the Testimony, the tablets of stone inscribed by the finger of God. EXO 32:16 The tablets were the work of God; the writing was the writing of God, engraved on the tablets. EXO 34:27 Then the LORD said to Moses, "Write down these words, for in accordance with these words I have made a covenant with you and with Israel." EXO 34:28 Moses was there with the LORD forty days and forty nights without eating bread or drinking water. And he wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant--the Ten Commandments. EXO 34:29 When Moses came down from Mount Sinai with the two tablets of the Testimony in his hands, he was not aware that his face was radiant because he had spoken with the LORD. EXO 40:20 He took the Testimony and placed it in the ark, attached the poles to the ark and put the atonement cover over it. DEU 4:13 He declared to you his covenant, the Ten Commandments, which he commanded you to follow and then wrote them on two stone tablets. DEU 5:4 The LORD spoke to you face to face out of the fire on the mountain. DEU 5:5 (At that time I stood between the LORD and you to declare to you the word of the LORD, because you were afraid of the fire and did not go up the mountain.) And he said: DEU 5:6 "I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. DEU 5:7 "You shall have no other gods before me. DEU 5:8 "You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. NEW INTERNATIONAL VERSION (C) 1973, 1978, 1984 INTERNATIONAL BIBLE SOCIETY DEU 5:9 You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, DEU 5:10 but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments. DEU 5:11 "You shall not misuse the name of the LORD your God, for the LORD will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name. DEU 5:12 "Observe the Sabbath day by keeping it holy, as the LORD your God has commanded you. DEU 5:13 Six days you shall labor and do all your work, DEU 5:14 but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your manservant or maidservant, nor your ox, your donkey or any of your animals, nor the alien within your gates, so that your manservant and maidservant may rest, as you do. DEU 5:15 Remember that you were slaves in Egypt and that the LORD your God brought you out of there with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm. Therefore the LORD your God has commanded you to observe the Sabbath day. DEU 5:16 "Honor your father and your mother, as the LORD your God has commanded you, so that you may live long and that it may go well with you in the land the LORD your God is giving you. DEU 5:17 "You shall not murder. DEU 5:18 "You shall not commit adultery. DEU 5:19 "You shall not steal. DEU 5:20 "You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor. DEU 5:21 "You shall not covet your neighbor's wife. You shall not set your desire on your neighbor's house or land, his manservant or maidservant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor." DEU 5:22 These are the commandments the LORD proclaimed in a loud voice to your whole assembly there on the mountain from out of the fire, the cloud and the deep darkness; and he added nothing more. Then he wrote them on two stone tablets and gave them to me. DEU 9:10 The LORD gave me two stone tablets inscribed by the finger of God. On them were all the commandments the LORD proclaimed to you on the mountain out of the fire, on the day of the assembly. HOS 8:12 I wrote for them the many things of my law, but they regarded them as something alien. MAT 19:18 "Which ones?" the man inquired. Jesus replied, "'Do not murder, do not commit adultery, do not steal, do not give false testimony, MAT 19:19 honor your father and mother,' and 'love your neighbor as yourself.'" MAT 22:34 Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together. MAT 22:35 One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question: MAT 22:36 "Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" MAT 22:37 Jesus replied: "'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' MAT 22:38 This is the first and greatest commandment. MAT 22:39 And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' MAT 22:40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments." LUK 10:25 On one occasion an expert in the law stood up to test Jesus. "Teacher," he asked, "what must I do to inherit eternal life?" LUK 10:26 "What is written in the Law?" he replied. "How do you read it?" LUK 10:27 He answered: "'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind'; and, 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'" NEW INTERNATIONAL VERSION (C) 1973, 1978, 1984 INTERNATIONAL BIBLE SOCIETY LUK 10:28 "You have answered correctly," Jesus replied. "Do this and you will live." ROM 13:8 Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for he who loves his fellowman has fulfilled the law. ROM 13:9 The commandments, "Do not commit adultery," "Do not murder," "Do not steal," "Do not covet," and whatever other commandment there may be, are summed up in this one rule: "Love your neighbor as yourself." ROM 13:10 Love does no harm to its neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.
