MERCY Taken from the HOLY BIBLE: NEW INTERNATIONAL VERSION (C) 1978 by the New York Bible Society, used by permission of Zondervan Bible Publishers. GEN 39:21 the LORD was with him; he showed him kindness and granted him favor in the eyes of the prison warden. 22 So the warden put Joseph in charge of all those held in the prison, and he was made responsible for all that was done there. 23 The warden paid no attention to anything under Joseph's care, because the LORD was with Joseph and gave him success in whatever he did. JOS 6:25 But Joshua spared Rahab the prostitute, with her family and all who belonged to her, because she hid the men Joshua had sent as spies to Jericho--and she lives among the Israelites to this day. JDG 1:23 When they sent men to spy out Bethel (formerly called Luz), 24 the spies saw a man coming out of the city and they said to him, "Show us how to get into the city and we will see that you are treated well." 25 So he showed them, and they put the city to the sword but spared the man and his whole family. 26 He then went to the land of the Hittites, where he built a city and called it Luz, which is its name to this day. 1SA 24:10 This day you have seen with your own eyes how the LORD delivered you into my hands in the cave. Some urged me to kill you, but I spared you; I said, 'I will not lift my hand against my master, because he is the LORD'S anointed.' 11 See, my father, look at this piece of your robe in my hand! I cut off the corner of your robe but did not kill you. Now understand and recognize that I am not guilty of wrongdoing or rebellion. I have not wronged you, but you are hunting me down to take my life. 12 May the LORD judge between you and me. And may the LORD avenge the wrongs you have done to me, but my hand will not touch you. 13 As the old saying goes, 'From evildoers come evil deeds,' so my hand will not touch you. 17 "You are more righteous than I," he said. "You have treated me well, but I have treated you badly. 2SA 22:26 "To the faithful you show yourself faithful, to the blameless you show yourself blameless, PSA 18:25 To the faithful you show yourself faithful, to the blameless you show yourself blameless, 37:25 I was young and now I am old, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging bread. 26 They are always generous and lend freely; their children will be blessed. 85:10 Love and faithfulness meet together; righteousness and peace kiss each other. PRO 3:3 Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. 4 Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man. 11:17 A kind man benefits himself, but a cruel man brings trouble on himself. 12:10 A righteous man cares for the needs of his animal, but the kindest acts of the wicked are cruel. 14:21 He who despises his neighbor sins, but blessed is he who is kind to the needy. 22 Do not those who plot evil go astray? But those who plan what is good find love and faithfulness. 31 He who oppresses the poor shows contempt for their Maker, but whoever is kind to the needy honors God. 20:28 Love and faithfulness keep a king safe; through love his throne is made secure. 21:21 He who pursues righteousness and love finds life, prosperity and honor. HOS 4:1 Hear the word of the LORD, you Israelites, because the LORD has a charge to bring against you who live in the land: "There is no faithfulness, no love, no acknowledgment of God in the land. 12:6 But you must return to your God; maintain love and justice, and wait for your God always. MIC 6:8 He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God. MAT 5:7 Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. 23:23 "Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices--mint, dill and cummin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law--justice, mercy and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former. LUK 6:36 Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful. ROM 12:8 if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give generously; if it is leadership, let him govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully. COL 3:12 Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. 13 Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. JAM 2:13 because judgment without mercy will be shown to anyone who has not been merciful. Mercy triumphs over judgment!
