RESPONSIBILITY

GEN 3:12  The man said, "The woman you put here with me--she gave me some 
fruit from the tree, and I ate it."

13  Then the LORD God said to the woman, "What is this you have done?" The 
woman said, "The serpent deceived me, and I ate."

16:5  Then Sarai said to Abram, "You are responsible for the wrong I am 
suffering. I put my servant in your arms, and now that she knows she is 
pregnant, she despises me. May the LORD judge between you and me."

25:29  Once when Jacob was cooking some stew, Esau came in from the open 
country, famished.

30  He said to Jacob, "Quick, let me have some of that red stew! I'm 
famished!" (That is why he was also called Edom.)

31  Jacob replied, "First sell me your birthright."

32  "Look, I am about to die," Esau said. "What good is the birthright to 
me?"

33  But Jacob said, "Swear to me first." So he swore an oath to him, 
selling his birthright to Jacob.

34  Then Jacob gave Esau some bread and some lentil stew. He ate and drank, 
and then got up and left. So Esau despised his birthright.

27:36  Esau said, "Isn't he rightly named Jacob? He has deceived me these 
two times: He took my birthright, and now he's taken my blessing!" Then he 
asked, "Haven't you reserved any blessing for me?"

EXO 32:22  "Do not be angry, my lord," Aaron answered. "You know how prone 
these people are to evil.

23  They said to me, 'Make us gods who will go before us. As for this 
fellow Moses who brought us up out of Egypt, we don't know what has 
happened to him.'

24  So I told them, 'Whoever has any gold jewelry, take it off.' Then they 
gave me the gold, and I threw it into the fire, and out came this calf!"

1SA 15:20  "But I did obey the LORD," Saul said. "I went on the mission the 
LORD assigned me. I completely destroyed the Amalekites and brought back 
Agag their king.

21  The soldiers took sheep and cattle from the plunder, the best of what 
was devoted to God, in order to sacrifice them to the LORD your God at 
Gilgal."

EZE 18:1  The word of the LORD came to me:

2  "What do you people mean by quoting this proverb about the land of 
Israel: "'The fathers eat sour grapes, and the children's teeth are set on 
edge'?

3  "As surely as I live, declares the Sovereign LORD, you will no longer 
quote this proverb in Israel.

4  For every living soul belongs to me, the father as well as the son--both 
alike belong to me. The soul who sins is the one who will die.

5  "Suppose there is a righteous man who does what is just and right.

6  He does not eat at the mountain shrines or look to the idols of the 
house of Israel. He does not defile his neighbor's wife or lie with a woman 
during her period.

7  He does not oppress anyone, but returns what he took in pledge for a 
loan. He does not commit robbery but gives his food to the hungry and 
provides clothing for the naked.

8  He does not lend at usury or take excessive interest. He withholds his 
hand from doing wrong and judges fairly between man and man.

9  He follows my decrees and faithfully keeps my laws. That man is 
righteous; he will surely live, declares the Sovereign LORD.

10  "Suppose he has a violent son, who sheds blood or does any of these 
other things

11  (though the father has done none of them): "He eats at the mountain 
shrines. He defiles his neighbor's wife.

12  He oppresses the poor and needy. He commits robbery. He does not return 
what he took in pledge. He looks to the idols. He does detestable things.

13  He lends at usury and takes excessive interest. Will such a man live? 
He will not! Because he has done all these detestable things, he will 
surely be put to death and his blood will be on his own head.

14  "But suppose this son has a son who sees all the sins his father 
commits, and though he sees them, he does not do such things:

15  "He does not eat at the mountain shrines or look to the idols of the 
house of Israel. He does not defile his neighbor's wife.

16  He does not oppress anyone or require a pledge for a loan. He does not 
commit robbery but gives his food to the hungry and provides clothing for 
the naked.

17  He withholds his hand from sin and takes no usury or excessive 
interest. He keeps my laws and follows my decrees. He will not die for his 
father's sin; he will surely live.

18  But his father will die for his own sin, because he practiced 
extortion, robbed his brother and did what was wrong among his people.

19  "Yet you ask, 'Why does the son not share the guilt of his father?' 
Since the son has done what is just and right and has been careful to keep 
all my decrees, he will surely live.

20  The soul who sins is the one who will die. The son will not share the 
guilt of the father, nor will the father share the guilt of the son. The 
righteousness of the righteous man will be credited to him, and the 
wickedness of the wicked will be charged against him.

21  "But if a wicked man turns away from all the sins he has committed and 
keeps all my decrees and does what is just and right, he will surely live; 
he will not die.

22  None of the offenses he has committed will be remembered against him. 
Because of the righteous things he has done, he will live.

23  Do I take any pleasure in the death of the wicked? declares the 
Sovereign LORD. Rather, am I not pleased when they turn from their ways and 
live?

24  "But if a righteous man turns from his righteousness and commits sin 
and does the same detestable things the wicked man does, will he live? None 
of the righteous things he has done will be remembered. Because of the 
unfaithfulness he is guilty of and because of the sins he has committed, he 
will die.

25  "Yet you say, 'The way of the Lord is not just.' Hear, O house of 
Israel: Is my way unjust? Is it not your ways that are unjust?

26  If a righteous man turns from his righteousness and commits sin, he 
will die for it; because of the sin he has committed he will die.

27  But if a wicked man turns away from the wickedness he has committed and 
does what is just and right, he will save his life.

28  Because he considers all the offenses he has committed and turns away 
from them, he will surely live; he will not die.

29  Yet the house of Israel says, 'The way of the Lord is not just.' Are my 
ways unjust, O house of Israel? Is it not your ways that are unjust?

30  "Therefore, O house of Israel, I will judge you, each one according to 
his ways, declares the Sovereign LORD. Repent! Turn away from all your 
offenses; then sin will not be your downfall.

33:1  The word of the LORD came to me:

2  "Son of man, speak to your countrymen and say to them: 'When I bring the 
sword against a land, and the people of the land choose one of their men 
and make him their watchman,

3  and he sees the sword coming against the land and blows the trumpet to 
warn the people,

4  then if anyone hears the trumpet but does not take warning and the sword 
comes and takes his life, his blood will be on his own head.

5  Since he heard the sound of the trumpet but did not take warning, his 
blood will be on his own head. If he had taken warning, he would have saved 
himself.

6  But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet 
to warn the people and the sword comes and takes the life of one of them, 
that man will be taken away because of his sin, but I will hold the 
watchman accountable for his blood.'

7  "Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel; so hear 
the word I speak and give them warning from me.

8  When I say to the wicked, 'O wicked man, you will surely die,' and you 
do not speak out to dissuade him from his ways, that wicked man will die 
for his sin, and I will hold you accountable for his blood.

9  But if you do warn the wicked man to turn from his ways and he does not 
do so, he will die for his sin, but you will have saved yourself.

10  "Son of man, say to the house of Israel, 'This is what you are saying: 
"Our offenses and sins weigh us down, and we are wasting away because of 
them. How then can we live?"'

11  Say to them, 'As surely as I live, declares the Sovereign LORD, I take 
no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather that they turn from 
their ways and live. Turn! Turn from your evil ways! Why will you die, O 
house of Israel?'

12  "Therefore, son of man, say to your countrymen, 'The righteousness of 
the righteous man will not save him when he disobeys, and the wickedness of 
the wicked man will not cause him to fall when he turns from it. The 
righteous man, if he sins, will not be allowed to live because of his 
former righteousness.'

13  If I tell the righteous man that he will surely live, but then he 
trusts in his righteousness and does evil, none of the righteous things he 
has done will be remembered; he will die for the evil he has done.

14  And if I say to the wicked man, 'You will surely die,' but he then 
turns away from his sin and does what is just and right--

15  if he gives back what he took in pledge for a loan, returns what he has 
stolen, follows the decrees that give life, and does no evil, he will 
surely live; he will not die.

16  None of the sins he has committed will be remembered against him. He 
has done what is just and right; he will surely live.

17  "Yet your countrymen say, 'The way of the Lord is not just.' But it is 
their way that is not just.

18  If a righteous man turns from his righteousness and does evil, he will 
die for it.

19  And if a wicked man turns away from his wickedness and does what is 
just and right, he will live by doing so.

MAT 10:11  "Whatever town or village you enter, search for some worthy 
person there and stay at his house until you leave.

12  As you enter the home, give it your greeting.

13  If the home is deserving, let your peace rest on it; if it is not, let 
your peace return to you.

14  If anyone will not welcome you or listen to your words, shake the dust 
off your feet when you leave that home or town.

15  I tell you the truth, it will be more bearable for Sodom and Gomorrah 
on the day of judgment than for that town.

11:20  Then Jesus began to denounce the cities in which most of his 
miracles had been performed, because they did not repent.

21  "Woe to you, Korazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! If the miracles that were 
performed in you had been performed in Tyre and Sidon, they would have 
repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.

22  But I tell you, it will be more bearable for Tyre and Sidon on the day 
of judgment than for you.

23  And you, Capernaum, will you be lifted up to the skies? No, you will go 
down to the depths. If the miracles that were performed in you had been 
performed in Sodom, it would have remained to this day.

24  But I tell you that it will be more bearable for Sodom on the day of 
judgment than for you."

12:37  For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will 
be condemned."

41  The men of Nineveh will stand up at the judgment with this generation 
and condemn it; for they repented at the preaching of Jonah, and now one 
greater than Jonah is here.

42  The Queen of the South will rise at the judgment with this generation 
and condemn it; for she came from the ends of the earth to listen to 
Solomon's wisdom, and now one greater than Solomon is here.

23:31  So you testify against yourselves that you are the descendants of 
those who murdered the prophets.

32  Fill up, then, the measure of the sin of your forefathers!

33  "You snakes! You brood of vipers! How will you escape being condemned 
to hell?

34  Therefore I am sending you prophets and wise men and teachers. Some of 
them you will kill and crucify; others you will flog in your synagogues and 
pursue from town to town.

35  And so upon you will come all the righteous blood that has been shed on 
earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah son of 
Berekiah, whom you murdered between the temple and the altar.

25:14  "Again, it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his 
servants and entrusted his property to them.

15  To one he gave five talents of money, to another two talents, and to 
another one talent, each according to his ability. Then he went on his 
journey.

16  The man who had received the five talents went at once and put his 
money to work and gained five more.

17  So also, the one with the two talents gained two more.

18  But the man who had received the one talent went off, dug a hole in the 
ground and hid his master's money.

19  "After a long time the master of those servants returned and settled 
accounts with them.

20  The man who had received the five talents brought the other five. 
'Master,' he said, 'you entrusted me with five talents. See, I have gained 
five more.'

21  "His master replied, 'Well done, good and faithful servant! You have 
been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. 
Come and share your master's happiness!'

22  "The man with the two talents also came. 'Master,' he said, 'you 
entrusted me with two talents; see, I have gained two more.'

23  "His master replied, 'Well done, good and faithful servant! You have 
been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. 
Come and share your master's happiness!'

24  "Then the man who had received the one talent came. 'Master,' he said, 
'I knew that you are a hard man, harvesting where you have not sown and 
gathering where you have not scattered seed.

25  So I was afraid and went out and hid your talent in the ground. See, 
here is what belongs to you.'

26  "His master replied, 'You wicked, lazy servant! So you knew that I 
harvest where I have not sown and gather where I have not scattered seed?

27  Well then, you should have put my money on deposit with the bankers, so 
that when I returned I would have received it back with interest.

28  "'Take the talent from him and give it to the one who has the ten 
talents.

29  For everyone who has will be given more, and he will have an abundance. 
Whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken from him.

30  And throw that worthless servant outside, into the darkness, where 
there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.'

27:24  When Pilate saw that he was getting nowhere, but that instead an 
uproar was starting, he took water and washed his hands in front of the 
crowd. "I am innocent of this man's blood," he said. "It is your 
responsibility!"

25  All the people answered, "Let his blood be on us and on our children!"

MAR 6:11  And if any place will not welcome you or listen to you, shake the 
dust off your feet when you leave, as a testimony against them."

LUK 13:6  Then he told this parable: "A man had a fig tree, planted in his 
vineyard, and he went to look for fruit on it, but did not find any.

7  So he said to the man who took care of the vineyard, 'For three years 
now I've been coming to look for fruit on this fig tree and haven't found 
any. Cut it down! Why should it use up the soil?'

8  "'Sir,' the man replied, 'leave it alone for one more year, and I'll dig 
around it and fertilize it.

9  If it bears fruit next year, fine! If not, then cut it down.'"

21:1  As he looked up, Jesus saw the rich putting their gifts into the 
temple treasury.

2  He also saw a poor widow put in two very small copper coins.

3  "I tell you the truth," he said, "this poor widow has put in more than 
all the others.

4  All these people gave their gifts out of their wealth; but she out of 
her poverty put in all she had to live on."

JOH 3:18  Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not 
believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of 
God's one and only Son.

19  This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved 
darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil.

9:41  Jesus said, "If you were blind, you would not be guilty of sin; but 
now that you claim you can see, your guilt remains.

12:48  There is a judge for the one who rejects me and does not accept my 
words; that very word which I spoke will condemn him at the last day.

15:22  If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not be guilty of 
sin. Now, however, they have no excuse for their sin.

23  He who hates me hates my Father as well.

24  If I had not done among them what no one else did, they would not be 
guilty of sin. But now they have seen these miracles, and yet they have 
hated both me and my Father.

ACT 17:30  In the past God overlooked such ignorance, but now he commands 
all people everywhere to repent.

31  For he has set a day when he will judge the world with justice by the 
man he has appointed. He has given proof of this to all men by raising him 
from the dead."

ROM 12:3  For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think 
of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with 
sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you.

6  We have different gifts, according to the grace given us. If a man's 
gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to his faith.

7  If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach;

8  if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing to the 
needs of others, let him give generously; if it is leadership, let him 
govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully.

1CO 3:8  The man who plants and the man who waters have one purpose, and 
each will be rewarded according to his own labor.

13  his work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to 
light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of 
each man's work.

14  If what he has built survives, he will receive his reward.

15  If it is burned up, he will suffer loss; he himself will be saved, but 
only as one escaping through the flames.

GAL 6:5  for each one should carry his own load.

EPH 4:7  But to each one of us grace has been given as Christ apportioned 
it.

1TI 6:20  Timothy, guard what has been entrusted to your care. Turn away 
from godless chatter and the opposing ideas of what is falsely called 
knowledge,

REV 2:23  I will strike her children dead. Then all the churches will know 
that I am he who searches hearts and minds, and I will repay each of you 
according to your deeds.
