SERVANTHOOD

MAT 20:26  Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among 
you must be your servant,

27  and whoever wants to be first must be your slave--

28  just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to 
give his life as a ransom for many."

23:11  The greatest among you will be your servant.

MAR 9:35  Sitting down, Jesus called the Twelve and said, "If anyone wants 
to be first, he must be the very last, and the servant of all."

10:43  Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you 
must be your servant,

44  and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all.

45  For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to 
give his life as a ransom for many."

LUK 22:26  But you are not to be like that. Instead, the greatest among you 
should be like the youngest, and the one who rules like the one who serves.

27  For who is greater, the one who is at the table or the one who serves? 
Is it not the one who is at the table? But I am among you as one who 
serves.

JOH 13:12  When he had finished washing their feet, he put on his clothes 
and returned to his place. "Do you understand what I have done for you?" he 
asked them.

13  "You call me 'Teacher' and 'Lord,' and rightly so, for that is what I 
am.

14  Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also 
should wash one another's feet.

15  I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you.

ROM 15:1  We who are strong ought to bear with the failings of the weak and 
not to please ourselves.

1CO 9:18  What then is my reward? Just this: that in preaching the gospel I 
may offer it free of charge, and so not make use of my rights in preaching 
it.

19  Though I am free and belong to no man, I make myself a slave to 
everyone, to win as many as possible.

20  To the Jews I became like a Jew, to win the Jews. To those under the 
law I became like one under the law (though I myself am not under the law), 
so as to win those under the law.

21  To those not having the law I became like one not having the law 
(though I am not free from God's law but am under Christ's law), so as to 
win those not having the law.

22  To the weak I became weak, to win the weak. I have become all things to 
all men so that by all possible means I might save some.

10:24  Nobody should seek his own good, but the good of others.

2CO 4:5  For we do not preach ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and 
ourselves as your servants for Jesus' sake.

8:9  For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was 
rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, so that you through his poverty 
might become rich.

GAL 6:10  Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, 
especially to those who belong to the family of believers.

PHI 2:5  Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus:

6  Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God 
something to be grasped,

7  but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being 
made in human likeness.

8  And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became 
obedient to death-- even death on a cross!
