Question

Does the Bible mention dinosaurs anywhere? Did God create them?

Answer

The Bible doesn't mention them by name but they would have been included in Genesis 1:24, "And God said, "Let the land produce living creatures according to their kinds: livestock, creatures that move along the ground, and wild animals, each according to its kind." And it was so." [Genesis 1:24]  Yes, God did create them as far as we know, since we have their fossils.

Question (continued)

Did they exist billions of years ago?

Answer (continued)

No, nothing existed billions of years ago except God. But from what we can tell from God's Word, the earth is approximately 4,000 to 6,000 years old, so the dinosaurs did exist at one time, about 4,000 to 6,000 years ago. Now, you might wonder, where are they now? What happened to them? Well, many, many species of animals have died out, but in the case of the dinosaurs it may well be that God terminated their lives in the great flood, because they had served whatever purpose he had for them.

We have some great sermons on creation that address this in detail. Go to John MacArthur's Collection and look for the creation sermons:  http://www.biblebb.com/mac.htm
