Question

I was also wondering about life on other planets. To my knowledge this is not discussed in the Bible. Does God say anything about this? Are UFOs real?

Answer

To start with, man would say that the odds of finding intelligent life forms on other planets somewhere in the vast universe is very high, however, I believe that I can show from the Bible, that only the earth has intelligent life:

1. In Genesis 3:17-19, when Man sinned we know that the "entire" universe fell under a curse, and in Romans 8:19-21, God speaks of this cursed universe awaiting the redemption of man so that the curse will be removed:

"The creation waits in eager expectation for the sons of God to be revealed. For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the glorious freedom of the children of God." [Romans 8:19-21]

From this curse that fell on the entire universe because of man's first sin, we can see that "man" must have been and remains the only intelligent being (having rational intelligence and a soul) in the entire universe, because if there were other forms of intelligent life on other planets, then they would also be accountable to God and have a soul and given a free will to obey Him or not. To have the entire universe fall under a curse with man's sin, says that the entire universe is man's domain and his only. For if there were other intelligent life forms then unless they happened to sin at the exact same moment, their part of the universe would not have been subjected to the curse because of "man's sin."

2. Another reason that there is no possibility for other intelligent life forms is that there no redeemer available for their inevitable sins.

God created two intelligent life forms: Man and Angels, and both sinned. We believe that no salvation was provided for angels because they lived in the presence of God and yet still sinned. Also, they were each an individual creation, and thus would each require a separate redeemer.

There is only one redeemer and He (Jesus Christ) is locked into human flesh forever because of His redemption of man, therefore no other intelligent life form can have a Redeemer.

3. Additional evidence of no possibility of other intelligent life in the universe is found in the Book of Revelation:

"Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God." [Revelation 21:1-3]

Here we see the new heaven and the new earth (for God had burned up the old universe and earth) and the City of the New Jerusalem, that golden, 1400 mile cube, coming down from God's throne room and is settled on the new earth. God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit, and all the angels and mankind live forever on this new earth. Note there is only God, Angels, and man--no one else.

I think the three reasons outlined above eliminate any possibility of any other intelligent life form in the universe.
