| Calvinism |
Can you talk a little bit about Arminian theology? Is it biblical? And, if a
church embraces that theology, are they saved? [Can somebody who holds an
Arminian view be a Christian--as opposed to Calvinism?] |
| Capital Punishment |
Please give a scriptural view of capital punishment? |
| Card Playing |
What is the right Christian stand on playing cards? |
| Carnal Christians [01] |
“Is there such a thing as a Carnal Christian?“ |
| Carnal Christians [02] |
“How does, or how will God deal with the backslidden
carnal Christian?“ |
| Carnal Christians [03] |
Obviously, we all believe that Jesus must be “Lord” for us to be
saved--to have salvation.
How does that fit in, because we hear so often about Carnal Christians,
what is a Carnal Christian? If Jesus is Lord, then how can we be
living a fleshly life? |
| Carnal Christians [04] |
Could you draw a distinction between the Biblical teaching on a carnal Christian or a fleshly Christian? |
| Charismatics [01] |
“Do you
consider John Wimber to be a Charismatic brother who has a different perspective
on the Scriptures than us, or do you consider him a false teacher?“ |
| Charismatics [02] | I read an article in a “big city” newspaper, on the Pentecostal movement and I am still puzzled. These people, true believers, and if they are true believers, what are they doing in this movement: “Heal me right away or maybe I'll walk away from Jesus Christ.” Can you shed some light on that? |
| Charismatics [03] | I am trying to understand how to articulate or teach to someone in the Charismatic Movement about the following: When they are taught a story in the Old Testament, like Israel being in bondage, they'll build a construct out of that and then say, “We were born into this bondage principle,” And then they will build a theology out of that, and I don't know how to articulate: “No, what you just did was wrong. You misapplied Scripture. You built a construct out of thin air.” |
| Charismatics [04] | Is the Charismatic movement a Christian movement? |
| Charismatics [05] | What do you think of Dr. Walter Martin in his book Kingdom of the Cults? |
| Charismatics [06] | I happen to work with a group of Christians, and they are Charismatic. And to me it seems as though they dwell as much on demons and bad spirits as they do on the Lord. And they also claim that there is a couple of these people have certain vices such as drinking and smoking. And they defend themselves saying that it’s the spirit in me, it’s the devil in me. And I try to tell them that it’s their humanness. And could you just [help me], just so that I have some kind of defense when I try to talk to them? |
| Child Evangelism [01] |
How do you describe to a young 4 or 5 year-old how they can make Christ Lord of their life? |
| Child Evangelism [02] |
How do respond to people who say as a very young child they were saved, and yet the church there does not even mention, other than...they don’t mention Lordship other than to say “Savior and Lord”? How can you respond to the person who’s grown up in that sort of an atmosphere? |
| Children | How can you know if a small child has been born again? What evidence? |
| Christ [01] |
“Do you believe that Christ, as He exist now, is a
material being? If so, do you
believe that before He was incarnate He also existed as a material being?“ |
| Christ [02] |
|
| Christ [03] |
We have been witnessing, my husband and I, to a neighbor who is Jewish and
who comes from Israel. We’ve been getting together with him and last time he
brought up his Hebrew Old Testament and my husband was reading with him through
prophecies and he would read it in English and the guy would read it in Hebrew.
And they came to the 110th Psalm, first verse: “The Lord said unto my Lord,” and
so on. He says that word “my” is not there in the Hebrew at all and the word
“Lord” is not “Adonai” or “Yahweh” or anything like that, but it’s
“Adoni,” which is just like saying “sir” or it’s an address that you can say
to anybody.
|
| Christ [04] | In Hebrews 1:3, I never heard the expression “impressed image” used and it seems to be the word that would make it closest to what Strong says a root would be--connected to an engraver...what do you say? |
| Christ [05] |
Do you see any reference to Christ in the eighth chapter of Proverbs? Specifically, the 22nd verse on? |
| Christians |
I would like you to explain the last chapter in 1 Corinthians. I know that
it is disciplinary to the people of Corinthians, but why would Paul, in verse
22, say, “If anyone does not love the Lord, let him be accursed?” I get the
point or the idea, but he is talking to Christians. |
| Christian Colleges |
The Professor of the Christian Education Department, at Biola University, made this statement. “If the Church was doing its job, we wouldn’t be here,” referring to attending Biola University. [What I am saying is], if the church was doing its job I wouldn’t have to be going to Biola University. |
| Christian Living [01] | Please give some of the basics for Christian living. For instance, the scriptural viewpoint on dancing, drinking, smoking, and miniskirts, etc.? |
| Christian Living [02] |
What is the difference between Christians, who seem to have such an exciting, happy life, and those who don’t? |
| Christmas [01] | Do you think the Christmas tree comes from Jeremiah 10:3-5? |
| Christmas [02] |
I have this book on Babylon Mystery Religion, by Ralph Woodrow. And I just wanted to ask you what you thought of it, and is Christmas derived from paganism, and is the cross derived from paganism? |
| Church [01] |
You are quoted as saying, “Find a church where the Word of God is not taught or
a church that doesn’t have a biblical leadership structure and instruct them in
the truth.” Now, I can see your viewpoint as a pastor, but what about lay
people? Were you making that statement to pastors and those in leadership or to
lay people? |
| Church [02] |
I am frustrated by the weaknesses in my church, but what can I do if there isn't
a strong church in my area? |
| Church [03] |
Why should I attend church? |
| Church [04] |
When should a person leave a church? |
| Church [05] |
In many cases people are a little bit confused and it comes under this area, “...of admonishing, forsaking not the assembling of yourselves together.” What is a proper definition of “local assembly” or “local church“? Some people feel it's five miles, ten miles and they have very definite feelings about that. |
| Church [06] |
Why or is it necessary to join a local church? |
| Church [07] |
About a year ago, a friend of mine came to me and let me read one of his books called The Fourth Dimension—it was written by Dr. Paul (David) Yonggi Cho, the pastor of the world’s largest church. I was very distressed as I read the book. My question to you is, have you read the book? And what do you know about the man? |
| Church [08] | My brother and sister-in-law have just started attending a church where the pastor is an Amillenialist and he also believes that you can loose your salvation. Should they feel comfortable and stay there or move on to a dispensational teaching church just a little bit further away? |
| Church [09] | There are a lot of pretenders and imitators and people playing in church. What is the difference between a chosen person and a called person? The passage says, “Many are called but few are chosen.” |
|
Church [10] 1/14/06 |
We are told what’s wrong with the Church. From your perspective, can you tell us what’s right with the Church right now? |
|
Church [11] 1/15/06 |
Recently, within our church, there’s been some division and even broken families, regarding teachings that, among other things, say that the church has replaced Israel. Are these doctrines correct or incorrect? |
| Church Growth [01] |
How do we explain the anomaly, that the church is
growing and alive in Communist countries, and that the evangelical church is
almost completely dead where democracy has ruled? |
| Church Growth [02] | What is wrong with the seeker-friendly model of ministry? |
|
Church Growth [03] 1/15/06 |
Do you think that the seeker-friendly movement is a new form of liberalism? |
| Church Membership | What does it mean for a Christian to be committed to the local body of believers? |
| Circumcision [01] |
What is the significance of the covenant of circumcision
in the Old Testament as opposed to ear piercing? |
| Circumcision [02] |
If the Jews thought that circumcision saved and made themselves perfect before God, what do the women [do]? How do they base their salvation, by keeping the whole law? |
| Cloud of Witnesses |
I have a debate going with another believer that people who die--believers
who die and go to heaven--that they’re watching over us. Now, is that something
to do with the great cloud of witnesses? |
| Commitment | I was talking to a friend today who is preparing for the mission field, and it’s been awhile since I’ve seen him, and he seemed kind of down. So, I talked to him for awhile, and it appeared to be that he was getting down because he's realizing what he's doing. He’s going to be going out there, and it’s like walking out on a limb that he knows is going to break that won’t hold him. Only God can help him. So I came up with this question, “What do you think the key factor or difference is in those Christians who seem to give every ounce of energy to seeing God glorified, and how does Romans Chapter 12, verse 6, and 1 Peter Chapter 4, verses 10, 11 relate? And then, how can I see my level of commitment grow? |
| Communion [01] |
|
| Communion [02] | What would you say to encourage those who would want to take communion but for medical reasons could not? |
| Communion [03] |
You made reference this morning to a person perhaps not taking the Lord’s Table if they haven’t been baptized. We have the admonition that we should examine ourselves, and then afterwards, there’s a warning about we’re not judging the Lord’s body correctly. And you made reference tonight to Hebrews 10. Sometimes I’ve heard a person say that they didn’t take communion because they’ve realized there’s something wrong and they wanted to fix it or they wanted to do something about it; and others say that the reason we examine ourselves is to be, you know, as honest as we can about our sin, but as long as we confessed it, then we really--we’re all lenient, you know. We can’t make moral rectitude of ourselves before we take communion. So, how would you apply this? |
| Communion [04] |
Is it Biblical to serve communion in your home? |
| Confrontation | How can we know when it is best to forgive or confront? |
| Conscience | I have a question on Romans 14, is it possible for a Christian to experience a guilty conscience apart from conviction of the Holy Spirit? Not in matters of sin but over gray areas and if so should it be ignored and if so how? |
| Contentment | What is the secret of contentment? |
| Creation [01] |
“I have been following the Bible Science Panel and they spoke of the
age of the earth in different years.
By analyzing the 'so and so begot so and so' and all of that, how old does the
Bible say that the earth is?“ |
| Creation [02] |
As you know scientists measure the distance of stars and planets in light years.
If the universe was created six to seven thousand years ago, how can there be
stars whose light we are now seeing, which has taken 5 billion years to get
here, if they didn’t even exist 6000 years ago? |
| Creation [03] |
What does it mean when, God said, “Let there be light?“ |
| Creation [04] |
How did God get into the universe to create all of us? |
| Creation [05] |
A ray of light travels at 186,000 miles per second, and
light from the edge of the milky way, would then take 100,000 years to reach
here. If that is so, then our world would need be quite quite old, because we
see those that are so far out there, and we couldn't see them unless those
100,000 years were fulfilled, in order to be in our sight--yes or no? |
| Creation [06] |
I was recently startled by a couple of friends, who I
thought were believers, when they started talking about the people who existed
on the earth before Adam and Eve. I’d never been confronted with that before.
Could you give us scriptures that confirm--well, straighten that out. |
| Creation [07] | How can we say the universe is so young when the stars are millions of light years away? |
| Creation [08] |
Were the seven days of creation literal twenty-four hour days? |
| Creation [09] | Is the belief in Adam and Eve, being the only first ones created, a major doctrine of the Bible? I know of someone who believes God created mankind, not just one Adam. Does this distort the truth? |
| Creation [10] | I would like you to comment on the credibility of Howard C. Estep as a teacher. Also he has taught and many other people have taught, that between verses 1 and 2 in Genesis 1 that there is an indeterminable amount of time where there were beings on earth and a flood which would of course have been prior to Adam and Noah. Could you comment on that please? |
| Creation [11] |
In light of scientific developments over the past century, is it time to abandon the literal view of a six-day creation found in the book of Genesis? |
| Cross | My question is that, and it is not for me, it is for my friend. He says that in the antique Greek manuscripts, they do not use the term “cross.” They use, and also in that time, that they used, either, like a “T” cross or a hex cross and that the antique manuscripts never use the term “cross” only “tree,” and because of this he says that our modern-day Bible is not complete. Could you explain how the transition from “tree” to “cross” came about, or is that true? I don’t know. |
| Crowns |
A few weeks back, you were teaching and you mentioned that the crown of the believers was not a physical, material crown, but that of the joy that we have in leading someone to Christ. I just was wondering how that fit in with this verse in Revelation 3:11. Speaking of the Church of Philadelphia, it says, “I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have so that no one will take your crown.” |
| Crucifixion [01] |
I’d like you to comment on a teaching that Jesus descended after His
crucifixion into Hell, that He had to suffer down there. |
| Crucifixion [02] | Explain I Peter 4:6, with reference to I Peter 3:19. Now, I Peter 4:6 says, “For this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead.” Then you go back to 3:19: “By whom also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison.” |
| Crucifixion [03] | If Christ died Friday afternoon, and rose Sunday morning, how could He have been three days and three nights in the heart of the earth, as according to Matthew 12:40? |
| Crucifixion [04] | In light of the fact that Christ said, “It is finished” before He died, physically, and, because He addressed God the Father again, [saying] “My God, My God,” isn’t that more or less proof that the fellowship of Christ with the Father had been restored before His physical death, and that the atonement was accomplished through His spiritual death, rather than His physical death? |
| Cults [01] |
“Is the
Self-Realization Fellowship a cult?“ |
| Cults [02] |
I have a brother-in-law who is involved with a church
somewhat on the cultic side I believe.
He has given me a couple of verses that their group believes that the
Tribulation occurred in 70 A.D. and that “this generation” in Matthew 24:34, “geneautos”
(Greek) as he puts it, means “this generation” and that the word “millennium”
does not necessarily mean 1,000 years.
Can you give me something to say to him that would turn him back around?
|
| Cults [03] |
About a year ago a friend of mine came to me and let me read one of his books
called,
The Fourth Dimension. It was written by Dr. Paul Cho, the pastor
of the world’s largest church. I was very distressed as I read the book. My
question to you is, “Have you read the book?” and “What do you know about the
man?” |
| Cults [04] |
My father, he’s a Seventh Day Adventist—and I think I’ve heard you say on one of your tapes that you’ve referred to Seventh Day Adventists as our friends. And I wonder if Ellen G. White is a false prophet? |
| Cults [05] |
The question I have deals with Jehovah’s Witness. I ride the RTD (Rapid Transit) about three times a week and they always come and they talk to me and we always have a great big conversation, and then the bus comes. In John 1 it says “In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God” and the Jehovah’s Witness they say “In the beginning was the Word and the Word was God and the Word was a god” to you what is the difference there between what scripture says and what Jehovah’s Witness say? |
| Cults [06] |
Would you consider Scientology a religion, a psychological theory, or a cult? |
| Cults [07] |
There is a group known as “The Local Church,” lead by a man named, Witness Lee, and they hold to a doctrine that calls for a mingling of the spirit of man and the spirit of God. And they call this mingling an intrinsic union between the spirit of man and the spirit of God. Could you tell me what the Bible has to say about such a union? |
| Cults [08] | I was speaking to a friend at work the other day who’s Mormon, and I asked him how the Mormon church got so involved in the genealogy aspect that they’re involved in, and he brought up the Baptism for the Dead that the Mormon church does, and he quoted a verse, and I can’t remember the reference now, but it went something like, I believe it’s one of the books that Paul wrote, “For if we baptize, we also baptize for the dead,” and whatever. And, he quoted that verse and then proceeded to tell me more about their very strange baptism for the dead routine. I was wondering if you could briefly explain the real meaning of that verse? |
| Cults [09] | I have a friend who goes to a Seventh-Day Adventist Church, and I know we have a lot of differing beliefs, but I didn’t realize how drastically so until she asked me to read this book called, The National Sunday Law. And the author concludes at the end that Sunday worship is the mark of the beast. And, my question to you is, if they believe so strongly that they should be worshipping on Saturday and not Sunday, are we breaking a commandment of not honoring the Sabbath, if it is supposed to be Saturday? And, my second question would be, what can I do to lead her from that church? |
| Curse |
In Genesis 1:28 it says that God gives Adam the command that says, “Be
fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it.” In Genesis 9 he
tells Noah to “multiply and fill the earth,” there is no indication of
subduing it. Why is that not mentioned, and is that part of the whole
kingdom? |
