| Sabbath [01] |
Are the Sabbath laws binding on Christians today? |
| Sabbath [02] |
In regards to the Sabbath question, and why we don’t hold the Sabbath as holy any more in the fourth commandment. I’ve been talking to some Seventh-Day Adventists, and, in Colossians 2, it refers to the Sabbath as a mere shadow of things to come. How is it a shadow, and is it to be abolished? |
| Sacraments |
In the Bible, John 3:3-5, it says here, "You must be born again to see the
kingdom of God." Then in verse 5, after Nicodemus questioned some, it says
"Jesus answered, 'Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of
water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God." I always
understood that to mean that "except in water," being accepting the Word of
Jesus, and "of the Spirit, being born of the Spirit," being baptized by the
Holy Spirit. I am just curious, like the church teaches ceremonial
sacraments, the seven sacraments, plus the Catholic Church, I think, does
nine. How do you relate that to the Holy Sacraments? |
| Sacrifice |
What does Romans 12:1 mean--becoming a "living sacrifice"? |
| Sadness |
"As Christians we are supposed to have a smile on our
face, yet I am sad and I
am always thinking about what I can do to possibly help the unbeliever, is this
normal?" |
| Saints |
"What did Paul mean in Romans 1:7, concerning 'To all that be in
Rome . . . called saints? What is a saint?" |
| Salvation [01] |
"I want to ask why lots of people accept the Lord only when something drastic happens in their lives?" |
| Salvation [02] |
"In Acts 16:31--I come from a Pentecostal background, and they use this Scripture to claim their family's salvation. I have read the Scripture myself and I don't believe it--I believe that a man has to give an account to God for his own salvation. It says here, "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house." |
| Salvation [03] |
In Jeremiah, Chapter 30, verse 21, "'Their leader shall be one of them; their ruler shall come forth from their midst. I will bring him near and he shall approach me, for who would dare to risk his life to approach Me?' declares the LORD." What does that mean? Why would God say, "' who would dare to risk his life to approach Me?' declares the LORD." |
| Salvation [04] |
Recently a friend and I had some discussions concerning the amount of information that is needed for salvation. My friend is a Charismatic and has that background. And we were discussing the “Heathen in Africa” question. His point was that a person could actually be saved without actually having the name of “Jesus Christ” mentioned or having the gospel, like the Word of God, read to him or preached to him, because God could actually speak to that person and they would be saved much the same way as Abraham was saved in Romans, chapter 4, where Abraham believed God and it was reckoned to him as righteousness. And I disagreed with him, and I said, “No, because God has given the Word that is what needs to be brought to them.” And I brought to him Romans 10, that a preacher needs to come…so we come to you at this point. |
| Salvation [05] |
Since Christ purchased our liberty consisting of our freedom from the guilt of sin, the condemnation of God, the curse of the law, and everything else that came with the saving work…and since God alone is Lord of the conscience, do we, in our trying to keep our conscience pure in the sight of God, find ourselves working out our salvation by works, and not by faith? |
| Salvation [06] |
I need to ask you a question about a quote you made a couple of months ago, in the second part of the Biblical View on Abortion. You said, “It is my conviction that God redeems murdered infants, that His grace reaches out and takes those little ones to be with Himself. The Bible is very clear that people perish in Hell because they refuse to believe, that Hell is for those who rejected God and who rejected Christ, something an unborn infant could never do. And so God, not having a just basis, either internally or externally, by virtue of the attitude or the action of an unborn child, would have no basis on which to sentence them to Hell, except for the depravity they inherited in Adam, which is never a cause for damnation, apart from its evidence in behavior or attitude. God must then embrace them into His own kingdom.” I had a problem with this, a couple of problems with it. |
| Salvation [07] |
A couple of weeks ago at our Bible study, the discussion got onto the doctrine of election. And, inevitably, it got over to the point of: what about the heathen who have never heard the gospel? One group's feeling, since the Bible teaches faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word, that you have to hear the gospel and you have to believe the gospel of Jesus Christ for salvation through faith. And the other side, taking Romans 1, verses 16 through 19 (roughly), as meaning that anyone who believed in a god, or who saw God in the universe, could be somehow saved. Would you address that? |
| Salvation [08] |
I have someone who’s close to me who lives out-of-state and he’s a professing believer, but I fear his faith is a dead faith given the lack of fruits in his life. He does not currently attend church, although I’ve encouraged him to go. The last thing I want to do is point him to a church that might lead him to conclude, falsely, that he’s delivered if he’s really not. I was wondering if you could share some of your wisdom on this. |
| Salvation [09] |
My question comes from John 3, and particularly verse five were Jesus says, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.” And my question is, what did he refer to when he said, "one has to be born of the water," because I know it doesn't mean that we have to be baptized to be saved? |
| Salvation [10] |
How can I be sure of my salvation? |
| Salvation [11] |
In Hebrews 4:12, we’re told that the Word of God is powerful, active, and living. My question to you is this: Does the Word that saves and sanctifies a believer’s life rest in the Word itself or is the Word of God the instrument by which the Holy Spirit regenerates and sanctifies an individual? |
| Salvation [12] | Is salvation based on accepting Christ as Savior and Lord or does He become Lord later? |
| Salvation [13] | How do you know when you’re saved? |
| Salvation [14] | Does God answer every salvation prayer? Is there ever anybody who prays to be saved and gets refused? |
| Salvation [15] | I’ve heard many times this statement: “When the last soul is saved, the Lord will return.” What is the scriptural base for this? |
| Salvation [16] | I was wondering if you could just explain a verse. In Hebrews chapter 10, verse 26, it says, “For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins.” Could you briefly explain that? |
| Salvation [17] | In John 3:5, “Jesus answered … Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.” Now what does it mean here when it talks about water? Being born of the water and the Spirit? |
| Salvation [18] | I came across some scriptures that I did not understand because I haven’t read the context and one is in Hebrews 6:4-6 that says, "For the case of those who have once been enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and have been made partakers of the Holy Spirit, and have tasted the good word of God and powers of the age to come, and then have fallen away, it is impossible to renew them again to repentance, since they again crucified to themselves the Son of God, and put Him to open shame." And I did not understand, I mean, when I read that I said "Woe!" it says fallen away that they can not, it’s impossible to be renewed to repentance and I don’t understand what he is saying here. And I wanted to ask you how it was is light of...like it also mentions in Galatians...it’s in Galatians 5:4 "You have been severed from Christ, you who are seeking to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace." It mentions that "fallen from grace" and then in also the parable of the sower where it talks about the seed who has fallen on the rock, fallen away through temptation. And I didn’t know what [it all means]? |
| Salvation [19] | How do you interpret the parable of Matthew 25:14-30 [The Parable of the Talents]? Does this mean the man lost his salvation? |
| Salvation [20] | I have a hard time answering a friend's question. I tell him how just God is and how He gives you all the chances, and He’s forgiving and loving and all of this for anybody. And [my friend] doesn’t feel he’ll ever deserve the right [to be forgiven]. But when it comes to the point where I just say, that he deserves the right to be a Christian, to go to heaven and have eternal life, then he says, "Well, if [God is] that just and still that liberal, what if Satan were to [seek], the same thing, would He give it to him? |
| Salvation [21] | Coming back to Matthew 25, there’s a passage here that’s really been troubling me. Because it speaks of ten virgins, and it says that they went to meet the Lord. And they were together. And then they got drowsy and they fell asleep. But then there was a great shout. But then it speaks of the five wise virgins and the five foolish virgins, and the wise had oil and the others didn’t. But what puzzles me is, that then the Lord came, so the other five that didn’t have the extra oil went to the other five that had the oil and asked them to give them some. And then they told them, we don’t have enough for you--we have for ourselves--we can’t give it to you. So they went the feast and the other five missed the feast. Then the Lord came. But then later on it seems like they got the oil, but when they went back to the Lord the Lord told them, "I never knew you." Please explain. |
| Salvation [22] | Since people can be saved only through Christ, how did the Old Testament saints get saved? |
| Salvation [23] | I have been involved in people who are close to me, who have entrusted their life with the Lord, and they believe that they’ve been saved, but they’re having trouble dealing with the things that come after that, as far as, they think when they’ve accepted the Lord, that everything is supposed to be wonderful and no problems. And there’s problems, and its become very emotional to them, and they feel like they’ve been deserted. Now, as far as my answer to them, all I could say is to say that, the Lord knows best, if you trust Him with your life. It’s not always going to turn out like you want it to, but in the long run it’s what’s right, what’s good for you. But that doesn’t seem to fulfill them. |
| Salvation [24] | In John 15 it talks about, and I’ve listen to your tapes, "that all Christian bear fruit," and in that, what does Christ mean when He says, "Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit, I take away." Is that referring to something like in Colossians that He has created all things, and so every body is created in Christ? |
| Salvation [25] | In witnessing to a non-believer, how can we enter this type question. When someone says, "If Christ is the only way to heaven, then how does the little child who cannot discern the truth go to heaven? And how does Christ’s atonement come into play for the Old Testament (OT) people?" |

Salvation [26] 5/6/08 |
Does Hebrews 6:4-6 teach that a true believer can lose his salvation? |
| Satan [01] |
This question is about Genesis 3:1, and 3:14, In what form was Satan when he tempted Eve? It says something in here about "cattle" and he was put on his "belly" to go in to dust. |
| Satan [02] |
|
| Satan [03] |
Even though Satan sought to defeat Christ and destroy
him (as in the slaughter of the babies by Herod), why did Satan, speaking
through Peter, try to keep Christ from the cross? |
| Satan [04] |
Some Christians in their prayers say, “We bind the power of Satan now that he won’t hinder our ministry” and they refer to Matthew 18:18. But this, to me, is not clear; what is your comment? |
| Satan [05] |
Can Satan hear what we say and know our thoughts? |
| Satan [06] |
Does Satan have access to heaven? |
| Satan [07] | If only a few make it to heaven and many to hell, does not Satan triumph over God? |
| Satan [08] | In Isaiah 14:12, it says, “Lucifer fallen from heaven to ground, and if this happened before the earth was created, how can there be a heaven and earth mentioned? |
| Satan [09] | Can, and does Satan read ones mind? |
| Satan [10] | I feel this question needs to be asked in the sense of clarification to what you taught two weeks ago on binding and loosing. Whatever is bound in Heaven and loosing? I would like to, in the light of what the Charismatics have done, to have an example, and boundaries of what we can do? Maybe, some examples from scriptures on how we can bind something, and how we can loose something, and bound in heaven and earth and not get way off on a tangent. |
| Satan [11] | With the recognition that Satan possesses the highest intellect in all creation, which leads us to believe that surely he recognized that Christ as God. What was the intent and function of Satan tempting Christ the three times he did? And I don’t mean just in terms of an illustration to us that Christ could withstand the temptation, but originally. |
| Satan [12] | I was listening the other day to a pastor Fred Price from Crenshaw Christian Center, the church where I was saved at, and I had problems speaking in tongues, and I no longer attend there. He said that the reason why Michael the Archangel did not enter into an argument with Satan in disputing for Moses’ body was because angels are not given authority to bind Satan or to cast out demons or anything like that. So I wanted to know what are thoughts about that? |
| Satan [13] | Since our whole faith is predicated on the fact that we are sinners, and that we need a Savior, and we were born into sin, then what really baffles me is that God has all this foreknowledge of looking down through the ages, and knowing this, what baffles me is, why would He ever create Satan, knowing that he’s going to fall, and make him so beautiful, knowing he’s going to have all this pride problem, and knowing through the ages, people are going through all this suffering. Why would He ever create Satan, knowing that all of this is going to happen? |
| Satan [14] | I have a question here from a book of Job. You know, first chapter. I’m starting this book, and it kind of strikes me here when I’m reading chapter one and verse 12, when Satan is talking to God and he’s asking God to give him a test, and then, the Lord said unto Satan, “Behold, all that he has is in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thy hand. So, Satan went forth from the presence of the Lord." And he [Job] got the trials. Now, in chapter 2, I read here when the Lord said, “And, the Lord said unto Satan, has thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him on earth, a perfect and upright man, one that feareth God and escheweth evil? and still he holds fast his integrity, although thou movest me against him to destroy him without cause.” Now, my question is, did Satan do this thing to Job or did God do it to him? |
| Scripture |
Did Jesus really say, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but through Me"? (John 14:6) |
| Second Coming [01] |
"Some
Bible Scholars say that Christ did not promise to come again. Is this
true?" |
| Second Coming [02] |
I was trying to look it up earlier out of Isaiah 35, but was wondering that when the second coming of Christ comes about--the desert--is it supposed to bloom and blossom with flowers and vegetation? |
| Sheol |
"What does it
mean when in the Book of Jonah it says, 'My spirit went into Sheol?'" |
| Shroud of Turin |
There has been much in the media about the shroud of Turin; I’d like for you to comment on that and tell us what you think. |
| Sickness [01] |
In James 5:13-18, where it told about anointing with oil, my question is kind of a four-part question: 1. Is this for the church today? |
| Sickness [02] |
In James 5:14, it says, “Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord, and the prayer offered in faith will restore the one who is sick and the Lord will raise him up, and if he has committed sins, they will be forgiven him.” Now, if that’s a promise to the church, then should we not be doing that? Or, I guess my question is: is it a promise? Can we claim that as a church? |
| Singleness [01] |
What signs and circumstances does one need to be alerted to that God would use to confirm the gift of celibacy? |
| Singleness [02] |
There are a lot of references in Proverbs 31, Titus 2, I Peter 3 about what a godly woman, like a married woman… What is your definition of femininity to the single woman? |
| Sinlessness of Christ |
"If
Christ didn't sin then how can I be acquainted with a God who could not sin because
He doesn't really know my sins?" |
| Sin [01] |
I am looking for your interpretation of Hebrews 10:26 in
context with the passage which says, "For if we sinning willfully after
receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for
sins." In desiring to use the
Word of the Lord accurately, I have often used this passage in sharing with
people who would consider themselves Christians and desire to continue to live
with their girlfriends, or Christians who justify getting divorces. |
| Sin [02] |
Does a Christian have an old nature? |
| Sin [03] |
|
| Sin [04] |
|
| Sin [05] |
|
| Sin [06] |
|
| Sin [07] |
|
| Sin [08] |
I thought I became a Christian 22 years ago, but if I’m more aware of my sin
now than I was then, does that mean I’m not a Christian? |
| Sin [09] | Why did God allow sin? |
| Sin [09] | God cannot sin, so how could Christ have been tempted by Satan to sin? |
| Sin [10] | We got into a discussion in our Bible Study about the fact that God hates sin but not the sinner. Now Satan is a created being even though he is like the personification of sin, does God hate Satan? |
| Sin [11] | Are there degrees of sin? We know that all sin is against God, and I know in my mind I think that there are degrees in my mind that one sin is worse than the other. |
| Sin [12] | In Genesis 9, where it talks about Shem, Ham, and Japheth when they go in and Ham looks at Noah, and he’s naked and everything, and he goes out and tells his brothers, why was it a sin and why was he cursed? Why were Canaan’s children cursed just because of that? |
| Sin [13] | I would like you to explain as thoroughly as you can the unforgivable sin, the blaspheming of the Holy Spirit. Just exactly what it is and how it affect a Christian and a non-Christian alike? |
| Sin [14] | What if a believer makes unbelievers sin--they sin together? And how severe is the chastisement of the Lord on the unbeliever, and does the believer lose his salvation because of that? |
| Sin [15] | After we become born again, and we’re still in the flesh, is the sin that’s still on us, is it like in the wake, following behind us? |
| Sinning Christians |
|
| Slander |
|
| Sleep |
What is a balanced Christian life with regard to sleep? |
| Son of Man | In Psalm 8, where it talks about the son of man, "What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him? For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour." Is the son of man there Christ, or is that talking of mankind as a whole? |
| Sons of God | In Hebrews 1:5, it says, “For which of the angels did He ever say, 'Thou art my Son.'" What I want to ask you is in Job 38:7, who are the sons of God? |
| Soul |
What is the difference between soul and spirit? |
| Sovereignty [01] |
I was wondering what your opinion was on
the sovereignty of God concerning picking up hitch-hikers or keeping a gun in
your house. Do you believe that
you need to take a step out in faith when taking risks like that? |
| Sovereignty [02] | Did the prayer of Moses on behalf of the people in Exodus 32 change the mind of an omniscient, sovereign, immutable God? So, when God told Moses that "I will destroy these people," even if Moses had not prayed, God would not have destroyed the people? |
| Spiritual Gifts [01] |
I was wondering, are there conflicts between the different spiritual gifts? I mean, like do you have problems, like if you have an exhorter and a teacher? |
| Spiritual Gifts [02] |
On the willingness to appropriate those things which are ours...on a number of occasions Jesus said in Matthew 13, speaking about the parables and also in Matthew 25 speaking of the parables of the talents, He said, "For unto everyone that has shall be given and he shall have abundance, but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath." Does that in any way imply that we could have spiritual gifts but because of our unwillingness to use them Jesus would take them away? |
| Spiritual Gifts [03] |
In view of the fact that as Christians we are to see ourselves as a part of the body, and we are to be exercising our talents in order to be most effective for the Lord. How should we see ourselves relative to society as far as how can we be most effective as lights and as salt to the earth? Should we view society as also being a part of the body? |
| Spiritual Gifts [04] |
What are the spiritual gifts and how do I discover mine? |
| Suffering [01] |
In regard to Luke 22:31 ["Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift you as
wheat"] how might that apply to some of the experiences that Job went through? |
| Suffering [02] |
The Bible teaches that as a Christian, when we die we
receive different degrees of rewards in heaven. And, I’d like to know if you
could expound on those different degrees, but also, if there are different
degrees of suffering in Hell? |
| Suffering [03] |
I’ve witnessed to several people who question the existence of God by
saying, “Why does He let the innocent people suffer, innocent people get
killed, children die, etc., etc.?” |
| Suicide |
Can one who commits suicide be saved? |
