False Doctrine The DownGrade Controversy - Charles Spurgeon was a Baptist preacher and a member of the Baptist Union (a denomination of Baptist Churches).  Over the years, Spurgeon noted a downward tendency away from the Truth of the Scripture by the Baptist Union.  He then started to address the "shift" away from the truth, trying to save the denomination for going "liberal" in their theology and practice.  Ultimately, he withdrew from the Union.  The following are the various articles of discussions between Spurgeon and the Baptist Union as recorded in the Christian Newpaper, The Sword and the Trowel -- this controversy has much to say about our Evangelical churches today in America:

Published just before his death, this volume constitutes Spurgeon's final address to his fellow pastors. Without a doubt it is one of the most forceful addresses that he ever delivered.
